Thundercloud at Coachella Valley Preserve

This is a photo I took a couple days ago at the Coachella Valley Preserve in Thousand Palms, California. There was no rain, but I think I heard some thunder in the distance.

Tree on Volcan Mountain

I thought this tree had a little bit of character, so I decided to shoot a picture of it.

Cuyamaca is still green

This is a photo I took at the Cuyamaca Rancho State Park just south of Julian, California. It's still a little green up there because they've been getting a little bit of summer rain. But, if you're from another part of the country, you would probably think this wasn't green enough.

Work in Progress, continued.

Here is a composite scan of the work in progress. It's not a perfect scan and the lines can be seen. But, it better represents the colors of the painting.

Work in Progress Continued

I didn't have a whole lot of time to work on it today, but here it is. When I am finished, I will take a good photograph in order to get a sense on how this piece's colors really are.

Summer in the Desert

Here is another shot from Culp Valley that I took this summer. It was taken with my Pentax k1000 35mm camera.

I didn't work on my painting that much today because I was working with my scanner making composite pictures of my larger works. The scanner gave out and I don't know when it will be working again. I am getting a new scanner next week and hopefully it will work better.

Today is also the anniversary of the September 11th attacks. I don't have any pictures about that right now, or I would have posted that.

Began a new painting project

Today, I began a new painting project. I have a favorite photo that has a lot of problems that I can't seem to fix. So, I am painting a picture of it. It will be an acrylic on 16 x 20 stretched canvas.

Culp Valley in August

Here is a picture of Culp Valley taken last August with my Pentax K1000 35mm camera. I think I used f8 at 1/125 or 1/250 second. No touch ups other than a levels adjustment was done.

I am having a problem working with my scanner again. I will probably be able to work it out, soon, but may not be able to list artwork again as I had planned. I will continue to do artwork and post them as soon as I can.

Palms, continued on

I worked on this piece again. I am hoping to get it done in a couple of days. I used a "levels" adjustment when I scanned this item. The colors look closer to the original than if I hadn't used it. But, the colors are slightly brighter on the computer than the actual piece.

Palms, Continued

Here, I am adding more of the mid-ground and some details.

Cowles Mountain Small Work of Art

This is my completed painting for today. It was quite a challenge because of all the variety of shrubs in the foreground as well as the mottled mountain in the background. I am trying to get away from trying to copy my photos exactly and make them look better. I also am challenged by water, especially still water like a lake or creek.

This is a 5 x 7 acrylic painting on canvas paper.
