Palm Canyon Palm Grove

Here's a picture of one of the first Palm Canyon Palm Groves from afar.

Desert Dandelions

Here are some Desert Dandelions that I shot last week. These are fairly common, but I don't think they turn into "blowies" with the seeds that fly everywhere. At least, I haven't seen them do that. Mostly, when their season is done, they shrivel up.

Lake Murray in January

I took this picture because I liked the way the water shimmered off the lake that day. It was taken in the late afternoon back in January 2008.

View from Visitor's Center

This is the view from the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park visitor's center. I took this with RAW settings on my Digital Rebel Camera a few weeks ago.

Late Afternoon Sun

I liked the way the light played against these hills here in the Anza-Borrego Desert.

Happy Valentine's Day

I don't really have a Valentine's day photo or anything, so here I am in Borrego Springs enjoying my lunch.

Urban Intersection

I took this on the 14th of January. I was mostly trying to capture the sky, so the shutter speed was slow and the cars were a little blurry. I used 1/30 shutter speed at f/1.8 at 400 ISO.

Let's Knit

Here's a sample of some still life I did today. I don't like that I cut the end of the knitting needle out of this picture, but otherwise I like it pretty much.

This was shot RAW at about f/10 at 1/60 (I think)

B & W Conversion

This is a black and white conversion of one of my digital snapshots. I took the picture last summer near Santa Ysabel. I mostly just used a levels adjustment, contrast adjustment, and conversion to grayscale to make this photo.

Shooting into the Sun

I try not to take pictures in any general direction of the sun with my little digital camera. But, I thought it had a nice effect. I did a levels adjustment on the sky to make it a little more dramatic. This was in Santa Ysabel last Sunday morning.

On Volcan Mountain

This is a 2004 photograph that I took on a very windy day on Volcan Mountain near Julian, California. It was taken with a totally manual 35mm camera. Though it was summer, it was really windy and cold on this day.

Coachella Valley Preserve

This is one that I took a couple of years ago. It's the main palm grove near the parking lot of the Coachella Valley Preserve. It's nice and cool in there as you look out toward the mountains. It was taken with an aperture priority camera.

My Car at Fish Creek

This is a photo of my little car taken last spring at the Fish Creek Campground in the Split Mountain Area of the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. It was taken with my fully automatic digital camera.

Iron Mountain Trail Head

Here is the entrance to Iron Mountain Trail. All those warning signs have to do with high heat, wildlife, car break ins, or the fact that this area has suffered with wildfires. But, when I went, I saw little evidence of the fires that passed through here and lots of new growth.

Me on Iron Mountain

I hiked up towards Iron Mountain near Poway, California, and took this photo with my Argus digital camera.

Happy Thanksgiving.

I think I may have posted this 35mm photo before. It's some turkeys near Santa Ysabel that I took in September 2007.

Mission Trails Park in 2003

Mission Trails

This picture was taken in either 2003 or 2004 before the Cedar Fire. It was a really dry year. I believe I took this in June or July. It was taken on the rim trail looking out towards Mission Gorge and Cowles/Fortuna mountain areas. The photo was taken with a totally automatic 35mm camera.

I had a drawing that I was working on, but didn't feel like it was working out right, so I decided to not post it.
