Update on Killdeer Painting

I am going very slow on this painting as it has gotten kinda complicated for me. I am not used to working slowly on the fine details like this painting has.

Another week has gone by and here is an update on my acrylic killdeer painting. Still plugging along.

Killdeer painting in progress

Here is a photomerge that I did on the current killdeer painting in progress. It will be an 18 x 24 acrylic painting. It's very challenging for me because I don't usually do water and I am trying to put a lake in the scene. Also, I've never done killdeer before, except the chick in colored pencil.

I finished my Morongo Valley Painting.

Here is that painting I finshed based on an area in the Morongo Valley Preserve north of Coachella Valley. It is 8.5 x 11 on canvas paper.

Update on Morongo Valley Painting

I haven't been able to really work on this painting until today and a little bit yesterday. I may just keep the painting strokes simple and not force a lot of detail into the painting.

New Painting in Progress--Morongo Valley

I am in the process of doing this 8 1/2 x 11 acrylic on canvas paper painting of Morongo Valley, California. I am using a bad photo I took as a reference. I don't know if I will be putting anything in the foreground. I will have to see how things work out when I get there.

Highway 74

I don't think I ever posted this before. I know that the date on it says 2008, but it was actually completed and sold a few years ago. It was an 11 x 14 acrylic painting on canvas board. It depicts an area off of highway 74 between Temecula and Idyllwild.

I found this painting!

I was working with a lot of old photo files on floppy disks and I found this old painting done on canvas board that I sold a long time ago. It is a painting of the Borrego Badlands in the summertime. I think it was an 11 x 14 acrylic.

Nina Kuriloff's Blog

I just wanted to point to an online friend's blog about her beautiful artwork. She is Nina Kuriloff and she has a surreal style to her artwork. Many of her paintings are tasteful nudes done in a surreal style, but she does other subjects as well. Here is a link to her site. Nina Kuriloff Fine Art

But, beware, she does paint nudes, so you might want to keep it from your children if you feel that that subject is not suitable for them.

She also has a few other sites that artists can show their art or link to.

Speeding #1 Acrylic ACEO Painting in a Day

This may be the first in a series of abstract ACEOs called "speeding". I haven't decided, yet, if this is going to be the only one, or one of many in a series. It is acrylic on canvas paper and is currently on auction on eBay through November 11th.

Grapevine Canyon

Hi all! I don't think I've listed this one on the blog, yet. I just put this up on eBay. I had it up on eBay before, but I could never get it to scan right. Hopefully, it will work right this time.

This is an 11 x 14 acrylic painting on canvas board. It was completed in 2006.

If you'd like to bid on this item, here is the link:

Running Horses, almost finished.

I didn't work all too much on this today, but I am feeling that I am nearly finished. I would say that maybe two to three more hours of work and I may be done.

Running Horses continued

The fires here are still raging, but I am doing fine and not really being affected besides a canceled meeting and the closure of my gym.

Here's the progress that I am making on this painting. I need to do a lot more work, especially on the horses' legs.

Running Horses, continued.

I'm still working with lighting and shading issues. But, I have made some progress on this piece. Tomorrow, I will be taking part in the Weekend Drawing Event on Wetcanvas and will be working on that piece instead of this one for the weekend. I will post the progress on that item.

WIP continued

I didn't have much time to do anything today as I am working at my outside job. I did some work on it yesterday. I am thinking of making some changes to the sky and the lighting in the background.

Running Horses, continued again

I haven't had a lot of time to work on this piece in the last few days, but I did manage to do some. I changed the sky because the dark orange bothered me. I will probably change it again in the future.

There's still a lot of work to do on the background as well as making some perspective adjustments.
