I've been doing a lot of artwork for Cafepress and one of the things I've been working on is a series called "A Duck Stole My Heart" I've only done two pieces, so far, one of a mallard and one of a Pekin. I just finished the Pekin version. It's done in colored pencil.
If you would like to visit my Cafepress shop and see what's available in both designs, visit here:

Jill in Progress #2
Not much further along as I'm mostly doing detailed work and am struggling with various facets of this acrylic painting such as lighting and the water.

Green woodpecker in progress
I did this colored pencil drawing of a green woodpecker as part of Wetcanvas's Weekend Drawing Event. I'm not sure if I am going to do much more to it other than finish that left side a bit. The photo was provided by Robert Rongier. I only could see one leg in the reference photo.

Independent duckling
Acrylic on paper. This is one of five little mallard ducklings I saw back in May. Four stuck together and stayed with mom while this little run ran up to me and stood at my feet.
You can buy things with this picture on Cafe Press in my store, Just Ducky by Darlene.

I found this painting!

I was working with a lot of old photo files on floppy disks and I found this old painting done on canvas board that I sold a long time ago. It is a painting of the Borrego Badlands in the summertime. I think it was an 11 x 14 acrylic.

Darkening the background

I decided that I needed to darken the background to bring out more of the highlights in the foreground. I may darken that background even more.

New Project for Wetcanvas.

I'd thought I'd show what I am working on for Wetcanvas' Still Life Project. I am working on this very slowly, but I'm going to get it done. It's colored pencil on Canson paper. I am not really creating this to show or sell, unless I get it done before my next show in September.
